Full Tilt Beta April Release Impressions
On March 6, 2009, popular poker room Full Tilt Poker announced that it was allowing a public beta of a completely new edition of its poker room software. Programmers have reportedly been completely re-writing the poker table, which looks very similar to what is currently being used, but "under the hood," a lot of changes are being made. The beta is available to anyone with a PC or Mac from the Full Tilt Poker Beta Page.
The first release of the beta listed changes to the Full Tilt Poker software. These changes are seen within the beta client before they are implemented into the mainstream edition of the program. Changes with the first edition of the beta included:
- Separate install directory and executable file
- Possible fix for a number of sound bugs
- Rumored special freerolls for testers who submit high-quality bug reports
- Graphic upgrades that promise to be sharper and prettier. This might break all current custom graphics and Heads-Up Displays (HUD).
- Beta process expected to last three to four months
Many of the comments about the first beta build were in the form of bug reports, such as Omaha tables, when observed, only showing three cards instead of four. Others say the software looks and acts the same with many reporting they can't find a single difference between the beta and the real edition of the software. The only thing that people seemed to notice were the chips sliding across the table for a won pot. Many people are reporting also that AHK scripts no longer work with the new software and that their Holdem Manager HUD also fails to operate. A post specific to the latter problem was addressed as follows:
- Launch HEM's auto-import ability
- Open up the Table Manager and make sure you have one table open and hands are being imported (add the HH folder to the import folders)
- Click on Table, Table Finder
- The table that is not found yet should be in the list. Click on it and drag the red cross to the table it belongs to. Once you do this for the first time, the Table Manager will prompt the user if you wish to add the Full Tilt Beta executable to the list. Click Yes.
One person on the forum reported that this fix worked; however for the author of this article, it did nothing and the HUD never worked on the Beta 2 edition.
For users with old computers, it seems that the software's new streamlined "under the hood" programming for the tables will allow players to experience a lot less lag if they turn off animations and sounds. Multiple reports of old computers performing faster with the beta edition were posted, giving promise to users that better functioning software which reduces lag time for users is on the horizon.
On April 2, 2009, the Full Tilt Poker liaison to the forums, FTPDoug, posted that a new edition of the beta was available for download; a story featured here on PokerSoftware.com. The new beta update features the following new items:
- Mac version (OS X 10.3.9 not supported) of the beta available
- Performance improvements over the last beta
- Approximately 200 bug fixes
- Resolved sound issues
Early opinions on the new beta have ranged from people being happy that lag issues and stability have been improved over the last build to complaints that the graphics (not improved in this build) are still the same. In addition, users have noted that the decks have to be altered to support SVG file types so that the deck always looks sharp whether the table is full screen or at the minimum size.
Unfortunately, there have been no changes to the lobby, which has been widely criticized for not being able to be resized and has a very minimal number of filters. The Full Tilt Beta software offers a bud submission feature from the "Help" menu inside the Beta software lobby. Alternatively, users can go to the Full Tilt website and find the bug submission page. All functionality of playing on Full Tilt Poker, such as earning points, is available in the Beta software.

(Paperback) When I first bought this book i wasnt tllenicahcy an advanced player. I understood the game, the rules, and many plays from just playing poker a lot. The problem with Hold'em is no matter how many books you read, you are destined to loose hundereds or thousands of dollars in the process of your Hold'em education. We have books like this one to give tips on how to cut down on the cost of your education. Honestly, if you're a regular player at the game of Hold'em you got to have this book for your collection. I say collection because all Hold'em players have a book collection Must reads: David Sklansky's Theory of PokerDoyle Brunson's The Super SystemThe absolute must of them all = Mike Caro's Book of Poker TellsThis book gets more in to detail of things to do in certain situations or variations of Hold'em than it does about basics of the game. I really dont think anyone is going to get lost buying this book and being a beginner. You at least need to know what the basics of the game are, which can be learned by watching the World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker on TV. What David goes into more are Low limit, high limit, loose games, tight games, etc. and tips on what to do in certain situations against many or few opponents. I cant really say too much more that hasnt been said in all the other reviews. There is a lot of good info in this book. The bottom line is, for this game you must be as educated as possible about every kind of play there is. If you learn one thing in this book that will gain or save you a pot that you wouldn't have walked away with, then it has most likely paid for itself right then and there!

I'm very surprised Shakira and Texas Hold Em raenkd higher than the likes of Harry Potter a cultural phenomenon as I never hear anyone talk about either of those two! I would've expected much bigger artists, such as Gaga, Bieber or even The Beatles in hgiher positions. It would be interetsing to see the top 50, to see what other surprises there are. http://xmwayhqm.com boxuhjkruj [link=http://fwyzjl.com]fwyzjl[/link]
